Flashflood kills 1

A 76-year old grandfather died while his 6-year old grandson remains missing after their house was swept away by a flashflood in barangay Poblacion, Clarin town on the early morning of New Year's Eve.

The flashflood, brought about by 11 hours of pounding rains, hit at least seven barangays in the towns of Clarin and Tubigon where at least 250 families were displaced by the flooding. FULL STORY

The ancient sages say: The environment is a wealth inherited from our parents that we must preserve as stewards for our children. Its preservation - therefore - is a responsibility we owe to the first and third generations.

"Environmental protection" has thus become a contemporary buzzword for a province like Bohol which claims to be an eco-tourism destination. In fact, the province holds the distinction of being the first LGU to be accredited under ISO, an organization for international standard. This was achieved by the province during the incumbency of then Gov. Rene Relampagos. The positive note on the Aumentado administration is that it continued to preserve that ISO distinction of his predecessor.FULL TEXT
