Julius,
Edgar show gubernatorial plans If
body language will be taken as basis, there is no doubt that Vice Gov. Julius
Herrera and Rep. Edgar Chatto are determined to run for governor next year.
Both
were visible during the grand launching of the world's longest full-length hand-woven
raffia fabric in Inabanga town last Monday.
The
two gubernatorial timbers were shown on the roving stage where the raffia was
loaded while
it was laid along the national highway reaching a stretch of 1.6 kilometers.
Herrera
reiterated that "there is no backing out from the gubernatorial race,"
while there are reports that future negotiations are expected for the vice governor
to take the place of Chatto as congressman of the first district.
The
vice governor, when asked of this possibility, said he is not aiming for a congressional
seat but is determined for his gubernatorial dream having served as the second
highest official of the province under last termer Gov. Erico Aumentado.
| | | "I
wish to pursue the programs of the governor whom I have served and supported."
Herrera
said, while saying there is "no turning back in his gubernatorial ambition."
In
fact, Herrera's positioning for governorship is viewed as with the blessings of
Gov. Aumentado as the vice governor is given the privilege of distributing financial
aid to the more than 1,000 barangays in the province.
Likewise,
giving weight to Herrera's gubernatorial ambition is the report that Prov'l. Administrator
Tomas Abapo, Jr. is groomed to be his running mate. | However,
Gov. Aumentado has not issued any statement and indication on this regard until
this time.
For
his part, Chatto's gubernatorial plan gets "clearer and clearer" each
day when he is seen during town sorties, not just in his district but in the entire
province. The last termer solon has not officially announced his gubernatorial
bid until these days. But, during meetings in various occasions, Chatto is introduced
as the "next governor of the province."
During
the big event in Inabanga town hosted by Prov'l BM Josephine "Roygie"
Jumamoy and
Inabanga Mayor Jono Jumamoy, reports surfaced that the former is being considered
as one of the choices as Chatto's running mate. Other names mentioned were last
termer Rep. Roberto Cajes and Prov'l BM Concepcion Lim who is presently the provincial
president of the Association of Barangay Captains.
