P40M city fund
still in question

Minority bloc city lawmakers put on hold the passage of a proposed ordinance approving Supplemental Budget No. 2 amounting P40,728,306 during the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) session Friday.

Meanwhile, city lawmakers remain to be "blinded" on budgetary measures which they wish to clarify after the city mayor insisted to prohibit City Budget officer Rose Palma and City Engineer Anecita Castolo to appear before the Sangguniang Panlungsod last Friday. FULL STORY

Melligen, Donaire
vs. Mexican foes

Mark Jason Melligen, of ALA will see action on Aug. 15 in a 10-round bout for the first time in the United States against Mexican Michel Rosales.

Bob Arum who launched the Pinoy Power 2 boxing event last July 1 in front of the media personalities spoke highly of Melligen, even though, Melligen was not there during the press con. Top Rank executives mentioned in the meeting with Martin that it will be "sky is the limit" if Melligen wins. FULL STORY

Balikbayans arriving with Palace treat

A red carpet welcome awaits some balikbayans, who will be coming home for a grand reunion with friends during the "Tigum Bol-anon Tibuok Kalibutan" (TBTK).

The formal welcome reception of the balikbayans will be at Malacanang on Tuesday, 3pm where the Bohol delegation will be expected for a Palace visit escorted by Rep. Edgar Chatto, chairman of the House committee on tourism and Genaro Lapez, president of the Boholano Association of Metro Manila, Inc. (BAMMI)

KB alumni, SK prov'l federation gathers

The Kabataang Barangay (KB) Alumni Association-Bohol in strong collaboration with the Provincial Sangguniang Kabataan Federation (PSKF) is set to gather the young leaders of the province from both the public and private sectors this coming Sunday, July 19, 2009 at the Bohol Cultural Center, Tagbilaran City.

The gathering which has its theme, "Revisiting the Past, Charting the Future," shall showcase the achievement of the youth through the years and enable the SK to develop and institutionalize its networking with past youth leaders.

Just Before Deadline.....
Italian hostage Vagni freed
MANILA. Eugenio Vagni, the Italian worker of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) who has been held captive by extremist rebels in Sulu since January, was freed an hour past 12 midnight last night, according to officials of the Philippine National Red Cross.

Vagni was freed at around 1:05 a.m., PNRC secretary-general Gwen Pang said. FULL STORY
