City eyes purchase of
bulldozer for dumpsite

 

City councilors are proposing to purchase a brand new bulldozer with an estimated cost of P12 million, anticipating a quick solution to the uncontrolled littering at the garbage dumpsite in barangay Dampas, this city.

Kag. Leonides Borja, chairman of the Sangguniang Panlungsod committee on health and sanitation, said it will be feasible for the city government to acquire the heavy equipment rather than lease it from a private contractor. FULL STORY

 Before July ends, President Gloria M. Arroyo shall have delivered her State of the Nation Address (SONA) - probably her valedictory speech if she does her curtain call in 2010.

We expect that it will not just be an ordinary annual SONA but a self-review that GMA will do on her 10-point Medium-Term Goals set in 2004.

Jolo, Iligan blasts
death toll up at 7'


MANILA. Twin explosions hit parts of Jolo, Sulu and Iligan City, Lanao del Norte yesterday morning, killing seven people and wounding scores more.

Sulu-based military commander Maj. Gen. Juancho Sabban said the Jolo bomb went off while ordnance teams from the police and the military were detonating another bomb on Sanchez Street around 7:50 a.m. He said the improvised explosive was placed inside a motorcycle and was "remotely detonated" possibly by members of the Abu Sayyaf bandit group.
