25 mayors bolt Lakas, join
Nacionalista Party

 

Twenty-five Lakas town mayors bolted from their political party to join the Nacionalista Party under presidential timber Senator Manuel Villar.

The merger of the two biggest political parties Lakas and Kampi in the country may not hold here in the province as majority of town mayors have been sworn in last Sunday to the re-organized Nacionalista Party of Sen.Villar.

THE ECONOMY GOES TO RECESSION?

 
 Simplify though we may as best we can - we still conclude that the Philippine economy could go into a recession.

Because, just when the economy's "prophets of boom" said that the Philippines is relatively immune to the global recessionary contagion, GDP growth in the first quarter dove to 0.4% (that is less than 1/2%) - the worst in ten years.

Just Before Deadline
House set to approve con-ass
MANILA. After holding a caucus with the members of the majority, House Speaker Prospero Nograles said they will approve House Resolution (HR) 1109, the controversial Charter change measure seeking to convene Congress into a constituent assembly (con-ass).

After the resolution is approved, Nograles said they may convene a constituent assembly after President Arroyo's State of the Nation Address in July.
