 HNU prof. heads national editors of research group

The members of the Philippine Association of Institutions for Research (PAIR) had embarked into a three-day workshop titled: "National Training on Peer Review and Journal Publication Standards" on March 02-04, 2009 at Our Lady of Fatima University in Valenzuela City.

On the last day of the workshop, i.e., March 05, the members engaged into accrediting the prospective National Peer Reviewer of which Dr. Ed Babor got the accreditation.

Also, the members accredited the prospective editors of the Journal of Philippine Association of Institutions for Research (JPAIR) of which Dr. Babor got another accreditation as National Editor of JPAIR.

Finally, the accredited National Editors of JPAIR elected their officers whose term of office starts this year (2009) and ends in 2012. They are as follows:

President: Dr. Eddie R. Babor (Holy name University, Tagbilaran City)
Vice-President : Dr. Ethelbert Dapiton (Our Lady of Fatima University, Valenzuela City)
Secretary: Dr. Lorna Roldan (Bataan Peninsula State University, Balanga City, Bataan)
Treasurer: Dr. Imee Gualino (Bronkenshire College, Davao City)
PIO: Dr. Maribel Valdez (Bukidnon State University Fortich Street, Malaybalay City.

   

The participants came from all over the Philippines representing various colleges and universities from Vigan, Ilocos, Cagayan, La Union, Bulacan, Tarlac, Bataan, Pampanga, Manila, down to Iloilo, Palawan, Bacolod, Negros, Cebu, Bohol, Leyte, Davao, Romblon, Masbate, and to Zamboanga City, Misamis, Davao, Cotabato, Surigao, and Cagayan de Oro. All of them committed to undergo the rigors in the workshop, i.e., to be informed and agree among themselves on the following: Policy on Quality Assurance, Peer Review System, Selection and Qualification of Peer Reviewers, Editorial Board Functions, Publication Standards, Referee's Framework of Evaluating a Journal, Characteristics of International Scientific Indix (ISI) in the Various Disciplines, The Peer Review Process, Peer Review Report Writing, and Accreditation of National Peer Reviewers.

Dr. Remegia Nathanielz, former CHED Commissioner and currently the Vice President for Academic Affairs of Our Lady of Fatima University, inducted the newly elected officers to office on the same date.

Other professors from Bohol who got accreditation as national referee of JPAIR are Dr. Jes Tirol, Dr. Verlita Cuadra, and Dr. Ric Bullecer who all come from the University of Bohol. Dr. Anne Perez, and the rest who represented CVSCAFT also earned accreditation as national referees.

BC EDITOR SPEAKS BEFORE MAKATI MEDICAL SOCIETY. Bohol Chronicle Editor in Chief Bingo P. Dejaresco III receives a plaque of appreciation from Makati Medical Society, an organization of practicing physicians in the Makati area, during its 16th Annual Convention held at the Dusit Hotel recently. Giving the award is current Makati Medical Society president - anaesthesiologist Dra. Charito Mendoza-Cloma of the Makati Medical Center. Others in the photo are Dra. Sierra Hernandez-overall chair of the convention (extreme left), Dra Josefa Cruel, Chair-Awards Commitee (second from the right) and Dr. Hilga T. Tabago, Chair CME Committee. Dejaresco (r) speaks on the "Dos of Public Speaking". He is a Charter organizer and former president of the Presidents Toastmasters Club as well as former district auditor of Toastmasters Philippines. Toastmasters International has many chapters in 70 countries.
