P6.4M unliquidated city
cash advances' list out


The Commission on Audit (COA) released last Monday the "missing" supporting document in the 2007 Audit Report which contains the names and figures involving the P6.4 million unliquidated cash advances of city hall officials.

Chairman Reynaldo A.Villar of the COA central offices in Quezon City through his regional office ordered City Auditor Tereista Irig to release the said document after he was informed that the city auditor denied to release a copy of which to Vice Mayor Jose Antonio Veloso who since November 25, 2008 already wrote the city treasurer and City accountant Kurt Bongabong regarding the list of unliquidated cash advances, but to no avail.

History books taught us this was the credo our national heroes lived by in fighting mostly foreign tyranny, oppression and violence inflicted on Filipinos.

Our so-called democracy, however, did not insure Filipinos that the country will not be enslaved by their own countryman. Marcos supplied the example by silencing the country by institutional and personal violence while he and his cronies robbed the nation blind.

Just Before Deadline.....
"RP has Asia's
deadliest roads"

MANILA. The country's roads are the most dangerous in Asia, Senator Francis Escudero said in a statement released yesterday.

Citing a study conducted by the United Nations Children's Fund last year, he said that three of five road accidents involved child pedestrians and road accidents were the leading cause of injury admissions to hospitals.

Escudero's statement came after a 10-year-old pupil from Ateneo died this week after being run over inside the school parking lot.

Int'l NGO lauds ban on tarsiers display

An international wildlife foundation has lauded provincial lawmakers for its landmark legislation banning the viewing of tarsiers outside of their natural habitats.

The praises from the Born Free Foundation, an international wildlife charity group based in the United Kingdom , came even as local businessmen who had been displaying tarsiers for tourist viewing lobbied for the scrapping of the provincial ordinance.
