Bizmen urged to take legal action

More than 70-percent of business owners in the city are not granted business permits by City Hall and could face closure anytime.

CITY MAYOR: CONSISTENT ENVIRONMENTAL PREDATOR

 

Since the Top Honcho of City Hall had once said: I don't believe in tourism - it is of little wonder he treats the environment like a piece of shit (pun intended).

The environment as any high school kid will see is vital to tourism. A polluted sea destroys the charisma of an island resort like Bohol, particularly the seaport of entry where the drainage outfall is situated just few meters across. A stinking drainage at the main artery at that like CPG Avenue and the polluted seawaters at the Tagbilaran City Port is a tourist embarassment and a health hazard to residents. We blame the City Mayor for both.

Lopezes to sell 20% of Meralco to PLDT PLDT, San Miguel to fight for control
MANILA.- The Lopez family has agreed to sell most of its stake in the Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) to a unit of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) in what is believed to be an attempt to block a hostile takeover bid of the country's largest distribution utility by the giant San Miguel Corp.

The Lopez group's First Philippine Holdings Corp. announced Friday it had forged an "alliance" with PLDT by selling 20 percent of Meralco for about P20 billion to Pilipino Telephone Corp. (Piltel), PLDT's second wireless phone unit.

The two causeways leading to Panglao Island are undergoing P86M widening program in anticipation of a heavy traffic once the Panglao, Bohol Int'l Airport is realized .

Bohol to host 11th nat'l Mango confab

The province of Bohol will play host to the forthcoming 11th National Mango Congress on April 27-29,2009 in this city that could boost not only the industry itself but also tourist influx during summer months.

The big event is spearheaded by Bohol Mango Multipurpose Cooperative (BMMC) in cooperation with the Philippine Mango Industry Foundation, Inc, Department of Agriculture-regional office, Regional Agriculture and Fishery Council, Provincial Government of Bohol, City of Tagbilaran and the League of Municipalities-Bohol chapter, according to Atty.
