'89 to hold platinum reunion in Texas The
Hildegardeans Class '89 of Nursing of the Holy Name University, formerly the Divine
Word College, will hold its Grand Platinum Reunion in Houston, Texason on June
19-21. Equipped with an uncompromising value for life, the members of the class
have pursued their respective paths in different places across the globe in respond
to the calling of their profession.
Their
reunion 20 years after leaving the portals of their alma mater will gather them
once again during their Platinum Anniversary Gala Night at the Marriot Hotel Grand
Ballroom at the Texas Medical Center on June 20. Alumni ought to register on June
19 in Pearland, Texas.
A
family picnic will follow on the 21st which is also open to their friends and
reunion supporters at the Christina Adair Park. The occasion will also serve as
"Appreciation Day" for the success of the reunion.
The
Hildegardeans batch, headed by Joseph Alagon for already five years now, is known
for the priceless contribution of its members to humanitarian works here such
as medical-surgical missions.
Alagon,
a registered nurse now based in California, had in fact helped thousands of indigent
patients in his home province in the past seven years.

supported the four biggest heart operations in the Philippines which were all
done in Bohol with patients who also came from other parts of the Visayas, Luzon
and Mindanao.
The
Bohol government, thru Gov. Erico Aumentado, has in fact lauded, recognized and
honored the contribution of the Hildegardeans Class to the many humanitarian missions
here.

happens to be a son of Philippine Gift of Life President/Chief Executive Officer

the "Mother Terersa of the Philippine Medical Mission." |
Three years
ago, a "yahoo group" of the Hildegardeans Class was initiated by Armi
Garmi as a strong link that could connect 67 of the original 97 class members
who have since then greeted and updated each other thru the cyberspace regularly.
The group has kept locating other Hildegardeans members.
So
far, some 30 Hildegardeans classmates and their families have confirmed to come
to Texas for the reunion. The said American state is now home to 10 Hildegardeans
members.
Their
class advisers, Margaret Pana-Faisal and Jevica Virtudes, will be the reunion
guest speakers while a number of class clinical instructors are also joining the
event.
Because
of the lingering global economic meltdown, the Houston Planning Committee of the
platinum reunion strived to keep the event cost down while at the same time generating
funds. Garrage sales were even held and fund-raising items sold on-line. The
committee thanked all donors and patrons.
