Tourism law signed to
improve industry

 

"The promotion of responsible eco-tourism as part of the country's global commitment to environmental conservation is of utmost importance."

This was the statement yesterday of First District Rep. Edgar Chatto, chairman of the House Committee on Tourism, as he expects a boom in the country's tourism industry after Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo signed into law the Tourism Act of 2009 in Cebu City yesterday.

1ST TOURIST LAW. Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo signs into law the Tourist Act 2009 which is the first tourism law legislated in the country during formal signing held at the Imperial Resort in Mactan yesterday. The President is flanked by Sen. Richard Gordon and Bohol Rep. Edgar Chatto, chair of the tourism committees of the Senate and House, respectively, both principal authors of the bill.
RADIO VISIT. Sen Franklin Drilon visited station dyRD upon his arrival in the city yesterday afternoon. He is interviewed by broadcaster Atoy Cosap while Atty Popot Marapao accompanied the senator to the radio visit.
