Airport police warns on
women trafficking

 

The Aviation Security Group stationed at the City Airport has warned women in the towns to be extra careful in accepting offers for job opportunities to avoid becoming victims of human trafficking.

After allegedly intercepting a job recruiter who took nine women, all 18 years old, at the city airport Wednesday last week, Police Senior Inspector Donatila Sotto suspects young female Boholanas could be the target of human trafficking syndicates operating from Manila. FULL STORY

 
DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN. This dam operated by Boheco at the Sevilla mini-hydro power plant still threatens Loboc and Sevilla towns. Four months after its commissioning last February, its spillway was opened releasing an onslaught of water which flooded 8 barangays in Loboc reaching 6-feet deep. Families were evacuated, river cruising stopped for several days while bringing the estimated cost of damages in agriculture and infrastructure to P74 million.

Storm Signal No. 2

MANILA. The national weather bureau yesterday afternoon has raised storm signals over much of Northern and Northeast Luzon, as typhoon Ramil (international code name Lupit) lumbers towards the area.

In its 5 p.m. severe weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that "Ramil" has maintained its strength as it continues to move towards northern Luzon.
