US pensioners held-up; armed suspects known

 

A U.S.-pensioner couple was held-up in broad daylight yesterday after they encashed their pension proceeds from the Land Bank of the Philippines branch at the Island City Mall in Dao district, this city.

The victims were identified as Felipe Hagapit, 69 and Teresita Hagapit, 67, of Poblacion, Dagohoy town.

ONLY ONE SUSPECT NABBED. Valerio Butron, an unarmed suspect of yesterday's broad daylight robbery hold-up was caught by police team who confiscated the two getaway motorcycles.The loot was with the five other suspects, three armed, who remain at large.

MANILA. National government needs bigger funds, too, he says
If elected president, Senator Manuel Villar Jr. will work on improving the internal revenue collection of the national government, so it can allocate more for local government units (LGUs) without having to revise the sharing scheme between the 2 levels of governments.

In a forum with mayors and governors on Tuesday, Villar also urged LGUs to first maximize their local tax base, and tap international agencies and donors for assistance, before asking the national government for more funds. FULL STORY
