Herrera:
stays Lakas loyalist Vice
Gov. Julius Herrera claims to remain as member of the ruling Lakas-CMD-UMDP.
In
a press statement, he said " I do not know whether to be amused or be irritated
by the report that I have denied joining the Nacionalista Party of Sen. Manuel
Villar.
He
reacted to the Chronicle story saying "I'm not joining Villar's Nacionalista
Party," saying he was never interviewed about that story.
The
story was based on a news item emailed to the Chronicle editorial desk Tuesday
evening which stated that he assailed rumors that he is joining the Nacionalista
Party (NP) of Senator Manuel Villar who has been raiding the Lakas-Kampi ranks
in the province. In
the same press statement, Herrera stressed he is "leaving it to the leadership
of Governor Erico Aumentado to make a decision" on who will be his anointed
gubernatorial bet in next year's polls.
Political
observers revealed that Herrera was supposed to meet Sen. Villar the other Saturday
when the latter was supposed to arrive here as guest of the Philippine Councilors
League (PCL) Bohol chapter.
| | | Reacting
to the story, Herrera said the title was obviously intended to put him in a spot
with both the Lakas-CMD-UMDP leadership and Sen. Villar.
In
a signed press statement received by the Chronicle last Thursday, the vice governor
categorically stated that he is "still a member of Lakas-CMD-UMPD. I am leaving
to Gov. Aumentado to decide whom he will support. That is his prerogative and
I don't want to be presumptuous about his decision."
Herrera
stressed that he always discuss major political decision with the governor whom
he respects as the Lakas provincial chairman. | He
took exception to other officials who "show respect to him (Aumentado) when
he is present but undermine his leadership when he is not around."
HERRERA
WARNS
Herrera,
in his signed press statement promised that he "will not resort to mud-slinging
and black propaganda, but does not mean that I will not do anything about it".
He
also said he is "prepared for that and I already know what to do."
The
vice governor warned those who engaged in dirty tricks to "think hard and
reflect about the consequences of their actions."
