This
is not counting on the peanuts but it goes without saying that with Gov. Erico
Aumentado at the helm of the provincial government, the present city leadership
has not wavered its support to the Aumentado administration.
Though
we learned not only one but more "sins" committed by the provincial
government to the detriment of the interest of the city, yet City Mayor Dan Neri
Lim had no qualms letting go of all of these.
On
Sunday, we shall dare enumerate these "sins of the province" without
necessarily straining the rapport of the good governor and the city mayor. The
scheduled China trip of the Bohol officialdom next month is a good starting point
of discussion.

Major
Jacinto Cesar assumed yesterday as the new police chief in Tagbilaran. But immediately,
he already has his hands full with the security requirements due to the on-going
CVRAA meet with Tagbilaran as host.
We
have all the respects and praises to Cesar being a true officer and gentleman.
That's why when he paid a courtesy call to the city mayor yesterday afternoon,
albeit we found it awkward to receive him instead of the city mayor, we strive
our best to employ utmost diplomacy as we do not want to offend his senses by
not seeing the city mayor personally.
It
was a case of a boy sent to buy oil in the nearby store for us as we were caught
in the quagmire of accommodating the request of the city mayor to receive the
new city police chief and at the same time try to appease the latter, who is a
good friend at Camp Dagohoy over the decision of the chief executive not to meet
him personally least he be subjected to misinterpretation and intrigues once again
over police matters.

Be
that as it may, we relayed to Cesar the support pledged by the city government
through Mayor Dan Neri Lim to his leadership at the city police force.
The
city mayor's message was simple: give to Cesar what belongs to Cesar.
To
begin with, afford Cesar the independence of running the affairs of the police
force in Tagbilaran that Cesar, the lone PMAer at Camp Dagohoy, himself deserves.

INBOX.
We got an e-mail this week questioning the motives behind the fire that hit Corella
public market recently. Considering that the e-mail is in the vernacular and the
Chronicle desk has been furnished thereof, we opt not to reprint it any more in
this corner.
Atty.
Nilo Ahat and Hermes Quijada likewise continue to forward e-mails to us but considering
the length of these e-mails, we prefer to absorb them in our main brain central
processing unit. Nida Ida Deguino also forwarded us an article written by Fr.
James Reuter, SJ entitled The Only Hope for the Philippines
and that is unity
through prayer.
