Fiesta events at Island City
 By ARIEL E. FULLIDO

As the city girds for the annual feast day on May 1, the fiesta revelry reaches fever pitch with the start of the nightly entertainment at the Island City Mall.

The opener in the nine-day series of fiesta entertainment is the pre-pageant and talent show of Miss Tagbilaran 2006 at the Island City Mall Activity Center last Friday, and followed by a variety show and cultural presentation by the DepEd City Schools Division last night at the Island City Mall roadway (road leading to the Integrated Bus Terminal).

Tonight is a rollicking night of "pasiaw" with Cebu's wackiest comic duo, Dos Comdiantes, while tomorrow night is a super variety show sponsored by the Alturas Group of Companies. Both shows will be held at the mall roadway.

The country's hottest Pinoy alternative band, Kamikaze, will take centerstage on Tuesday night, April 25, at the Island City Mall carpark, through the sponsorship of SK-Tagbilaran, while on Wednesday night, April 26, is a gay boxing and variety show at the mall roadway by the Bohol Gay Association.

A street party by San Miguel Corp. on Saturday night, April 29, at the mall roadway, features four top bands from Cebu -- Soul Strings, Brownbuds, Mendel's Legacy, and SRO. On fiesta eve, April 30, the most awaited boxing event will take place at the mall carpark. The "Stars of the Future" boxing bouts feature the country's most promising boxers who will slug it out with the powerhouse Thai boxers.

All the fiesta events scheduled and organized by the City Government of Tagbilaran, through Hon. Mayor Dan Neri Lim, are free to the public, except for the Kamikaze concert on April 25 which has an admission fee of P50.
