The
tension is mounting as the 19 candidates await the judgment night of the Miss
Tagbilaran 2006 on Friday, April 28, 7:30 in the evening at the Holy Name University
(HNU) Main Gymnasium.
A
new titleholder, the city's ambassadress of goodwill will be chosen from among
this year's contenders: Cristy Alboroto of Cabawan, Madelyn Alturas of Mansasa,
Shirlyn Antoque of Bool, Eunice Cindy Bade of Poblacion 1, Ma. Rossal Bancure
of Dampas, Florida Boyore of Cogon, Reginia Melou Chung of Mansasa, Desiree Aina
Deligero and Lezeil Aganas, both of Poblacion 3, Ira Via Enerio of Poblacion 1,
Arnilyn Guidaben, Dixie Lara Lee of San Isidro, Kristine Joy Luz of Ubujan, Margo
Adelaiz Manigque of Poblacion 1, Marjorie Mejias of Ubujan, Maryknoll Joan Porpor
of Poblacion 3, Angelie Remolador of Poblacion 1, Irish Rerora of Booy and Alona
Zambrano of San Isidro.
A
cash prize of P25,000 is in store for the Miss Tagbilaran, while the first and
second runners-up will receive P15,000 and P10,000, respectively. Winners of the
Best in Production Number, Best in Swimsuit, Best in Gown, Best in Interview,
Miss Friendship, Miss Photogenic, Miss Talent, Most Disciplined, Darling of the
Press, and other awards as determined by the Committee will be given P1,000 cash.
Candidates
are judged in two instances, each with separate set of judges chosen by the Committee,
during the pre-pageant, including the talent competition last April 21 at the
Island City Mall Activity Center which shall constitute 30 % of the over-all score
and during the finals night on Friday to account for the remaining 70%.
During
the finals night, the candidates will compete for the top three major awards,
namely: Miss Tagbilaran 2006, First Runner-up and Second Runner-up, respectively,
based on the general criteria of beauty of face and figure, intelligence and wit,
poise, bearing and stage presence and talent. Winners
of the following special awards will also be determined like the Best in Production
Number, Best in Swimwear, Best in Evening Gown, and Best in Interview. However,
scores for the special awards shall not be included in the actual pageant scoring.
The Board
of Judges during the finals and coronation night shall be composed of personalities
who are successful in their respective fields of endeavor, noted for their uncompromising
judgment who are not residents of the city.
Right
after the candidates parade in the evening wear portion, the top five candidates
will be chosen to answer questions for the semi-final round. Each candidate will
be made to choose from among the five envelopes which contain the name of the
judge who will ask the question.
Taking
into consideration the final interview and the overall impact of the candidate,
the judges will rank each candidate from 1 to 3, with 1 ranked as first, 2 as
second, and 3 as third, then, the judges' ranking will be totaled. The candidate
getting the score closer to 1 will be declared Miss Tagbilaran 2006, with the
two candidates following the order and corresponding ranks.
Last
year's five princesses of the Miss Young Tagbilaran are Richell Angalot, Bool;
Anna Karenina Cimagala, Poblacion 1; April Lynn Recio, Mansasa; Katherine Margaret
Tejano, Dampas; and Barbie Ann Vanta, Cogon.
Tickets
are sold at P50, P200 and P500. The show is a production of the City Government
of Tagbilaran in line with the city fiesta celebration spearheaded by City Mayor
Dan Neri Lim, Vice-Mayor Nuevas Tirol - Montes and Councilor Leonides L. Borja.
