The tension is mounting as the 19 candidates await the judgment night of the Miss Tagbilaran 2006 on Friday, April 28, 7:30 in the evening at the Holy Name University (HNU) Main Gymnasium.

A new titleholder, the city's ambassadress of goodwill will be chosen from among this year's contenders: Cristy Alboroto of Cabawan, Madelyn Alturas of Mansasa, Shirlyn Antoque of Bool, Eunice Cindy Bade of Poblacion 1, Ma. Rossal Bancure of Dampas, Florida Boyore of Cogon, Reginia Melou Chung of Mansasa, Desiree Aina Deligero and Lezeil Aganas, both of Poblacion 3, Ira Via Enerio of Poblacion 1, Arnilyn Guidaben, Dixie Lara Lee of San Isidro, Kristine Joy Luz of Ubujan, Margo Adelaiz Manigque of Poblacion 1, Marjorie Mejias of Ubujan, Maryknoll Joan Porpor of Poblacion 3, Angelie Remolador of Poblacion 1, Irish Rerora of Booy and Alona Zambrano of San Isidro.

A cash prize of P25,000 is in store for the Miss Tagbilaran, while the first and second runners-up will receive P15,000 and P10,000, respectively. Winners of the Best in Production Number, Best in Swimsuit, Best in Gown, Best in Interview, Miss Friendship, Miss Photogenic, Miss Talent, Most Disciplined, Darling of the Press, and other awards as determined by the Committee will be given P1,000 cash.

Candidates are judged in two instances, each with separate set of judges chosen by the Committee, during the pre-pageant, including the talent competition last April 21 at the Island City Mall Activity Center which shall constitute 30 % of the over-all score and during the finals night on Friday to account for the remaining 70%.

During the finals night, the candidates will compete for the top three major awards, namely: Miss Tagbilaran 2006, First Runner-up and Second Runner-up, respectively, based on the general criteria of beauty of face and figure, intelligence and wit, poise, bearing and stage presence and talent.

Winners of the following special awards will also be determined like the Best in Production Number, Best in Swimwear, Best in Evening Gown, and Best in Interview. However, scores for the special awards shall not be included in the actual pageant scoring.

The Board of Judges during the finals and coronation night shall be composed of personalities who are successful in their respective fields of endeavor, noted for their uncompromising judgment who are not residents of the city.

Right after the candidates parade in the evening wear portion, the top five candidates will be chosen to answer questions for the semi-final round. Each candidate will be made to choose from among the five envelopes which contain the name of the judge who will ask the question.

Taking into consideration the final interview and the overall impact of the candidate, the judges will rank each candidate from 1 to 3, with 1 ranked as first, 2 as second, and 3 as third, then, the judges' ranking will be totaled. The candidate getting the score closer to 1 will be declared Miss Tagbilaran 2006, with the two candidates following the order and corresponding ranks.

Last year's five princesses of the Miss Young Tagbilaran are Richell Angalot, Bool; Anna Karenina Cimagala, Poblacion 1; April Lynn Recio, Mansasa; Katherine Margaret Tejano, Dampas; and Barbie Ann Vanta, Cogon.

Tickets are sold at P50, P200 and P500. The show is a production of the City Government of Tagbilaran in line with the city fiesta celebration spearheaded by City Mayor Dan Neri Lim, Vice-Mayor Nuevas Tirol - Montes and Councilor Leonides L. Borja. (Fiel Angeli E. Araoarao - Gabin, CIO)
