It's
quite unfortunate for our star, Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista, not to see
action today as part in the undercard of the Pacquiao-Larios show at the Araneta
Coliseum today in Quezon City.
We
called up Bautista last Wednesday while he was confined at the Cebu Doctors Hospital
and we noticed his sadness for not fighting today due to his intermittent fever.
Many
boxing analysts believe that Bautista needs today's fight as his ticket to the
dela Hoya farewell fight in September en route to crowning himself as world champion
being the much-touted heir-apparent of the highly commercialized Manny Pacquiao
now.

We
said Pacquiao-Larios "show" because today's "Mano-a-Mano"
is nothing but a money raiser for Pacquiao against a highly vulnerable Larios
whose boxing prowess is only hyped by ABS-CBN being the exclusive network for
the fight.
Can
you imagine the P30,000 ring side ticket exclusive of VAT when the fight will
be on a delayed telecast by ABS-CBN?
We
also mentioned that Pacquiao is "highly commercialized" because he endorses
almost everything on TV advertisement not to mention the plugging of his songs
in almost all shows of the network. With the kind of hype that Pacquiao is getting,
we will not be surprised if a lot of people would feel being short-changed with
the today's fight.

Tagbilaran
again took center stage in the national limelight with the publication of yesterday's
40th charter day celebration of Tagbilaran as a city.
Mayor
Dan Neri Lim placed an ad in page 6 of the Philippine Daily Inquirer issue yesterday
while our compadre, Chito Fuentes, wrote an article also published in the same
national daily in almost one page.
While
there was no much action yesterday except from the weekly mayor's report which
we co-anchored with the city mayor being some sort of a special edition, the charter
day activities will be highlighted tomorrow with the distribution of the free
uniforms and school bags to pupils in various public schools in the city.

We
did not finish the regular session of the 9th Sangguniang Panlungsod last Wednesday
in order to catch the Weesam trip to Dumaguete City for an appointment with Gov.
George Arnaiz before taking the 5-hour land trip to Bacolod City.
By
Thursday morning, we were able to catch up with the National Conference on Tricycle
Transportation Development at the Iloilo Grand Convention Hotel where City Councilor
Edgar Bompat was already attending.
The
conference was sponsored by the Vice Mayors League of the Philippines, the Department
of Transportation and Communication, Land Transportation Office, Land Transportation
Franchising and Regulatory Board, Office of the Transport Cooperative and the
Department of Interior and Local Government together with other supporting agencies
including the Philippine Councilors League. It culminated last Friday.
