The
month-long Sandugo celebration reaches fever pitch today with the annual street
dancing starting from the Island City Mall area down to the J.A. Clarin then to
CPG Avenue before winding up at the CPG Sports Complex.
The
street dancing serves as the climax of the Sandugo festivities starting with the
Charter Day celebration of Tagbilaran on July 1. Indeed, today is the d-day of
the Sandugo.
Unfortunately,
since its inception, we have not seen the pomp and pageantry of the street dancing.
For the nth time, we shall anchor DYRD-DYZD's live coverage of the street dancing
starting at 9 o'clock this morning until the end of the Sandugo re-enactment that
would culminates the major event.

SP
UPDATES. The 9th Sangguniang Panlungsod of Tagbilaran passed last Wednesday
Proposed Resolution No. 25-06 confirming the appointment of Atty. Doni D. Piquero
as the new city attorney (city legal officer).
We
had the privilege of sponsoring the proposed resolution as vice-chairman of the
committee on personnel and reorganization although City Councilor Edie Borja strongly
endorsed the approval of the resolution which did not meet any objection from
the city lawmakers and was passed en masse.
Doni
is the coordinating lawyer of the Environmental Legal Assistance Center (ELAC)
in Bohol and is chairman of the Bohol Alliance of Non-Government Organizations
(BANGON). He is a faculty member of the Holy Name University College of Law and
also teachers political science and philosophy subjects in the College of Arts
and Sciences.

INBOX.
There
is some sort of tranquility in our inbox last week save for an e-mail from one
Jojo Taduran of Toronto, Canada who wrote about the exploits of a 73-year old
Filipino who is still active in the workforce there.
We
also got this forwarded e-mail from a concerned resident of Corella Bohol using
the nom de guerre Hugo Ambrosio Tubigbahandi about the in-fighting among the politicians
there.
Our
gmail and hotmail e-mail inboxes are relatively quite this week. And we thank
God for that. Amen.
