'YOU SHALL NOT KILL'

"There is no instance of country having benefited from prolonged warfare."

-- Sun-Tzu, The Art of War

Despite the worldwide outrage, the Israeli forces have continued to bombard Southern Lebanon.

A twist in the Israeli attacks took place last Wednesday when United Nations observers were hit by air strikes.

Four were reported dead. They came from China, Finland, Canada and Austria.

War is a big business. Last year, an arms deal was reached between the United States and Israel which agreed to purchase about US$ 1 billion in US military equipment, according to a congressional report.

Despite the existence of the Ten Commandments, people all over the world continue to defy God's law.

One of the Ten Commandments, "You shall not kill," has not been observed by some peoples of the world. That is why there is no peace in the world.

If the world longs for peace to come to reality, mankind should observe the Ten Commandments.

Former Provincial Prosecutor Joselito Estrera has written an open letter advocating the engravement of the Ten Commandments. His letter runs as follows:

AN OPEN LETTER TO ALL CHRISTIANS

Greetings Brothers and Sisters:

At the outset, please permit me the liberty of bringing for your consideration a certain advocacy (idea/inspiration) as to whether this is valid and worthy of any support or just something insignificant that is not worthy of any effort. I beg to say that, perhaps, you share the perception that our society today seems to be dominated by greed and self-interest. People in general, have idolized wealth, power and the pleasures of the world that breed the ills of our society. Morality is so low that, perhaps, the people have already forgotten the commandments of God. We are commanded that the Ten Commandments He gave must be enshrined not only in our hearts but must also be engraved in our doorposts and in the city gates, so that they will always be before our eyes as a constant reminder (Deut. 5-6). While, Jesus, in summary, gave only two general commandments - to love God above all and to love your neighbor as thyself - I believe that the Ten Commandments show us the ways on how to honor and love our God, and how to honor and love our neighbors, and still valid today.

Sad to say that today, if at all, the Ten Commandments find a place only in very few of the houses of God (Churches). I believe, God would be much pleased if His Ten Commandments can find a place (engraved or shown), not only in His churches but also in all chapels and other permitted conspicuous public places, which is really the aim of this advocacy - to encourage the parishes through their Priests and Parish Councils and to take our own initiative in this regard. I believe this is the call of the time, to remind the people, especially the youths, of god's Commandments to guide them in their actions.

Surely, politics alone cannot be depended upon to solve the ills of society, but rather, with a moral recovery based on the precepts and commandments of God.

Lastly, if you find this a worthy cause, please support. Let this be an advocacy to every CONCERNED CHRISTIAN.

TO GOD BE ALL THE HONOR AND GLORY!!!
