 3rd Globe cellsite torched

Another communications tower owned by Globe Communications Co. was burned 5 o’clock yesterday morning in San Isidro town.

This is the third cellsite of the telecom giant situated here in the province being torched in less than a year by still unidentified perpetrators.

The first two incidents, which happened in Mount Banat-i, Bool district, this city and in the town of Loon, was allegedly pulled off by members of the New People’s Army, Globe having refused their extortion demands.

Cellsite caretaker Bartolome Alidon, who was not harmed by the perpetrators, reported to the police early yesterday morning that he noticed the tower’s transmission lines were already smoldered.

Bohol PNP Director P/SSupt. Arturo Evangelista however disregard the possibility that it was the doing of armed rebels.

In an interview with the Chronicle, San Isidro Police chief P/Insp. Samuel Gabuya, said their initial investigations point to a possible conflict between the land owner where the cellsite is situated and the telecom management.

However, Gabuya refused to elaborate as they are still pursuing investigations.
