Eviction order for squatters out tom'row?

City Mayor Dan Neri Lim will issue tomorrow a Notice of Summary Eviction to finally remove the squatters near the newly developed "satellite city" where the Tagbilaran Integrated Bus Terminal, Central Public Market and the Island City Mall are situated.

POLITICAL WILL. Mayor Dan Lim's final meeting with the squatters residing in this area will be held tomorrow which will test the mayor's political will in cleaning this area near the Integrated Bus Terminal from squatters living in 52 houses.
This was bared to the Chronicle by City Planning and Development Coordi-nator Ed Macalandag after the illegal settlers have repeatedly rebuffed city hall's efforts ordering them to vacate their dwellings.

Some 52 houses are in the affected area wherein 26 of them squatting in a lot owned by the city government and the other 26 situated in a lot owned by a certain Jose Torralba (not the former city mayor).

Earlier last week the city government has issued an ultimatum for the squatters to vacate the area. The ultimatum, however, was ignored by the illegal settlers prompting the city government to call a meeting last Wednesday.

The meeting which was attended by Mayor Lim, Macalandag, HNU Pres. Fr. Ernesto Lagura representing the church, Jose Pamaong of the Urban Poor and P/CInsp. Jacinto Cesar, came out with the decision that the city mayor should issue a Notice of Summary Eviction on May 8 to vigorously pursue the city government's position to evict the squatters.

It was also agreed in said meeting that before the mayor will issue the notice of summary eviction, they will have another dialogue with the squatters tomorrow, to further explain the city government's comprehensive plans for the area. (with reports from Kit Bagaipo)
