Business center open for Alturas, BQ linkage

Through the proposed Tagbilaran City Business Center, there is possibility of linking Alturas and BQ Mall by constructing two overpasses across CPG Avenue and B. Inting Street, this city.

This idea is part of the on-going conceptualization of the major project of Mayor Dan Lim that the public views as his “diploma” project during his first three-year term as city chief executive.

With the business center situated right in the heart of the city’s commercial district, Lim said, it sounds logical if the two major shopping centers would connect the proposed business center in order for the shoppers to have easy access to proceed to either BQ or Alturas.

The expenses for the construction of the overpass can be shouldered by whoever might be interested to open pedestrian linkage to the business center, Lim said when interviewed by the Chronicle last week.

The construction of the center is slated to commence in July as city hall is finalizing its design under architect Walter Toston, UAP, the trusted technical consultant of the city mayor who has a wide exposure in technical jobs here and abroad.

Lim maintained his plan to complete the business center within eight months. If the project can commence this July, as the mayor committed, then completion is expected by March next year.

The pronouncement of the mayor came as a welcome note to the cross-section of the community considering that the unfinished Agora market has been there during the past 10 years, creating a major eyesore to the city governance.

In his launching drive, the mayor captioned this project as “Agora Eyesore No More.”

However, to Lim’s political detractors, they consider the pronouncement of the mayor as another “empty promise,” just as the mayor earlier said he will construct a huge sports and convention center near the Central Market.

“The Business Center is one project to be completed before my first term ends,” the mayor concluded.
